Mike Rathbone
Mike spoke to us yesterday about solar power. We specifically looked at our solar panels and saw proteins and electrons getting excited and causing energy. We were able to see how we are getting on through the splash monitoring. We looked at how LED lighting worked. He also spoke to us about saving energy by not leaving technology on standby. Quite a few students are keen to do more investigating!

Week 3 - renewable energy
Now we have had a chance to look at where and how we use energy in the home and school... check out what Germany is doing...
"On Sunday, Germany’s
impressive streak of renewable energy milestones continued, with renewable
energy generation surging to a record portion — nearly 75 percent — of the
country’s overall electricity demand by midday. With wind and solar in
particular filling such a huge portion of the country’s power demand,
electricity prices actually dipped into the negative for much of the afternoon,
according to Renewables International."
What is our potential?? Week 3 focus - on renewable energy and more possibilities.
Do the solar panels really make a difference? Lets continue being energy detectives!
