Matatoki brings
together the work of some of the very best internationally recognised
contemporary Māori carvers in New Zealand.
Each of the artists
in this exhibition has developed a strong individual style that has been
embraced by collectors and galleries. The result of this interest is that much
of their work is leaving Aotearoa or going directly into private collections. Matatoki is an opportunity for local
audiences to see the incredible skill and diversity of art being produced by
these talented individuals.
